Friday Match Nights

This Friday, 27th May we are starting our first Friday Match Night at 6.30pm which is open to all members.

This event is new to our calendar and is an attempt to fill the gap between Social Sunday/Tuesday events and League Matches. Our League teams are now all up and running with successful wins for all teams. Our Socials are also proving successful and cater for those new to bowls and those who want to play in fun competitions without the pressure of match play. There has now appeared a gap between these two options for those who want to play full matches as in the League games but are not yet ready for the challenges of League matches, hence the trialling of the Friday Match Night.
The initial plan for Friday night is for members to play a singles match using the same format as for League matches. This will be over four weeks and the highest total individual score over the period will win the monthly cup. There is no need to commit to playing every week as for our Leagues, just turn up and play on any Friday.
If this is successful those playing will give the club a pool of match ready players who could be ready to join the League teams next season.  If this pool is large enough we could  look at forming an A and B teams for some of our Leagues. This could resolve the issue of no team places available for everyone wanting to join League teams.
The Mayor will be attending on Sunday 29th May so it  would be great to see as many of you as possible at both events.

We are planning on having a friendly bowing competition for all members of all abilities on the green to get the season off a great start. It will be a fun and friendly competition. So bring your bowls with you or borrow a set. Just turn up on the day and enjoy yourself.

We are asking members if they can to bring along some cakes, treats and snacks (home made or not) for us all to share. There will be tea, coffee and soft drinks available in the club room. It is free to all members and you can bring along your partner or another guest to come watch the bowls, have a drink and have a cake or two.

The top and bottom bowling greens will then be open for bowling from the 26th. There is plenty of opportunity for social and competitive bowling.  The club has entered several teams in leagues this year and details are on website www.bowlingmanorpark.co.uk. We are particularly pleased that we are entering a ladies team in the Wednesday Night Tameside League.

We are also hoping to have a few club competitions during the season which are open to all members to enter. We are planning on having a outing to a bowling club and have a meal. We are having the Presentation and Christmas Party on 3rd December 2022 at Glossop Golf Club.. Details will be sent out or put on the website.

The club is also looking for more volunteers for our Maintenance team.  These are a dedicated and hardworking group who meet up to maintain the greens. Men and women who can help with grass cutting and other maintenance jobs please contact us. If you are interested please email us on bowlingmanorpark@yahoo.com. Your details will be passed onto the maintenance team.
We all look forward to seeing you when the club reopens
