Well done Manor Park who won 260 – 206 against Spring Garden B in the first round of the Winning Plate competition, played at the George and Dragon on 22 July. Overall we had 7 winners in a very competent performance all round.

In a bottom of the table clash on 15th July we beat Hyde Park B 8 – 6 to secure our third win of the season in the Longdendale league. Well done to the whole team including our six winners. Keep it up!

In the Tameside Vets league –  match postponed due to the weather on 28th June.

In the North Derbyshire league – we won 158 – 139 against Buxton Park on 29th June.

In the Longdendale league we lost 8 – 6 against Hyde Club on 1st July.

In the Tameside Ladies league – no match took place on 28th June.

In the Stockport Vets league – no match took place on 3rd July.

In the High Peak Mixed Pair league – we lost 74– 60 against Glossop on 27th June.

As we are now in the second half of the bowling season, we’ve put together a summary of how our teams are doing so far in their respective leagues.

North Derbyshire League:  Played 11 won 7. Currently 5th/12th in table.
Tameside Men’s Vets League:  Played 11 won 6. Currently 7th/11th in table.
Tameside Ladies League.  Played 9 won 7. Currently 2nd/9th in table.
Longdendale League. Played 9 won 2. Currently 7th/9th in table.
Stockport League.  Played 10 won 6.  Currently 5th/12 in table.
High Peak Mixed Pairs League.  Played 13 won 3. Currently 12th/14th in table.

Next years Round Robin Bowling away day will be held at the Zetland Hotel, Southport on Sunday 24th June 2018.  The hotel been highly recommended by other local bowling clubs.

It has excellent bowling facilities and will be providing us with both food and refreshments on the day.

Men and women across Glossopdale are being encouraged to improve their wellbeing by getting on the bowling green.

Glossop based social enterprise Be Well is starting new ‘Gentle Bowls’ sessions at Crown Green Bowling in Manor Park.

The first session will be held on Friday, June 23, between 1pm and 2pm.

They will then continue every Tuesday from 10:30am to 11:30am and every Friday from 1pm to 2pm for the rest of the summer.

Anyone is welcome to go along and is asked to contribute £3, with all equipment provided.

All you will need is flat shoes and a sense of humour.
