These are the words of Dawn Richardson the High Peak School and Sports Partnership (HPSSP) manager following the final afternoon of our annual Primary Schools Bowling initiative which we deliver alongside HPSSP and, for the first time this year, with Glossop Bowling Club.<\/p>\n

The finale saw 48 children from four local primary schools \u00a0– St James\u2019, St Mary\u2019s, St Luke\u2019s and Duke of Norfolk – coming together on our sumptuous looking greens (Thank you, Green Team) to show off the skills they have learned from an extended team of some 30 volunteers from both clubs.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As Dawn put it: \u201cOver the course of the programme, pupils have discovered a new sport, developed new skills and experienced the pride of representing their school in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to say: \u201cThe initiative is about opening doors to new experiences, helping children grow in confidence, work together, persevere, celebrate success and discover strengths they may never have known they had. Watching children flourish over the weeks, encouraging one another and leaving each session with bigger smiles than when they arrived has once again highlighted the incredible impact that sport can have.\u201d<\/p>\n

The winning school \u2013 St Luke\u2019s – were presented with the Dave Collier Trophy by Mayor of High Peak, Councillor Barbara Hastings-Asatourian.<\/p>\n

The trophy is named in honour of a true champion of junior crown green bowling and<\/p>\n

Dawn, who worked on an early initiative with Dave, explained: \u201cDave Collier dedicated so much of his time to creating opportunities for young people to enjoy crown green bowling that it feels especially fitting that this initiative continues to inspire the next generation in his name.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
